Atlanta MomoCon 2026 Sets New Attendance Record
Atlanta’s MomoCon 2026 has set a new attendance record, drawing 67,277 people to the Georgia World Congress Center. For fans of gaming, anime, and Japanese pop culture in the city, the headline moment was the North American debut of Wonder Festival, Japan’s long-running figure and model showcase.
The dedicated Wonder Festival area brought together more than 40 studio professionals, hobbyists, and figure designers. It gave attendees a closer look at Japan’s figure and collectible scene, which has long been a major part of the wider hobby market.
Another major draw was Katsuhiro Harada, the Tekken director, who appeared for a panel and signing sessions. Harada also recently announced VS Studio, a new venture he will lead as director under SNK Corporation.
That move has drawn attention across the fighting game community, as Harada’s experience in 3D fighting games could shape SNK’s future projects. The article notes that this may broaden SNK’s development portfolio beyond its traditional franchises, although no further details have been confirmed.
MomoCon, founded in 2004 by Jessica Merriman and Chris Stuckey, has grown from a 700-person campus event into a major convention. The 2026 event also raised $10,000 for its charity partner, Silence the Shame, a non-profit focused on mental health. Organisers are already looking ahead to MomoCon 2027, which is scheduled for 27 to 30 May in Atlanta, with four-day membership priced at $87.13.
