Classic 1986 Platformer 'Camelot Warriors' Set for Amiga AGA Revival

The beloved, if notoriously difficult, 1986 action platformer Camelot Warriors is being brought to the Amiga AGAplatform. First teased by 'Aladin' and confirmed to be in development by S0Y, this new version is not a direct port of the 8-bit original but is instead based on an enhanced PC remake from 2007. The original game, a staple of the "Golden Age of Spanish Software", was published by Dinamic Software for the MSX, ZX Spectrum, and Amstrad CPC, with a separate version for the Commodore 64 handled by Opera Soft.

This upcoming Amiga AGA edition aims to be more than a simple conversion, with developer S0Y incorporating several new features. Enhancements are set to include the ability for the knight to crouch, a mechanic whose usefulness the developer admits 'I don't know yet if it will be useful', as well as the ability to collect specific items which will lead to a new, special ending. Furthermore, the port is planned to feature 'a new level exclusive to the Amiga' and will benefit from separate in-game music for each level, significantly expanding on the original's soundscape.

While the first footage has been teased, no firm release date has been set for this ambitious fan project. The news marks a renewed interest in the classic title, reminding modern gamers that the 2007 PC remake which serves as its foundation is also still available to download.
