The Dragon Quest HD-2D remake collection arrives today, bringing Square Enix's beloved Erdrick Trilogy to modern consoles with stunning visual upgrades.

This eagerly anticipated release completes the publisher's ambitious project to revitalise the classic RPG series for contemporary audiences.

Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake launches on 30th October for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Consequently, gamers still have time to secure release-day delivery through Amazon Prime, while physical editions remain available for pre-order across all platforms. The collection has already garnered impressive critical acclaim, currently holding an 84 Metascore on Metacritic at time of writing (with a user score of 7.1).

Furthermore, pre-order bonuses include the Trouble-Free Travel Kit, featuring stat-boosting items to ease players into their adventure. Additionally, those with Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake save data will receive the Marvellous Makeover Kit as a carryover bonus. Meanwhile, Square Enix has confirmed that the Nintendo Switch 2 version will utilise a Game-Key Card requiring a 17GB download, whereas the standard Switch edition contains the full game on cartridge.

The £150 Collector's Edition, now sold out since 29th October, included exclusive collectibles and DLC content alongside the game. However, standard physical editions remain available at major retailers including Amazon, Walmart, Best Buy, and Target. For those new to the series, Dragon Quest III serves as a prequel to the first two games, though each title stands independently despite their connections within the Erdrick Trilogy.

Moreover, Square Enix continues to expand the Dragon Quest universe with Dragon Quest VII Reimagined scheduled for 5th February 2026. This ongoing commitment to classic RPG preservation demonstrates the enduring appeal of traditional Japanese role-playing games in today's market.
