TRIMUI Adds Brick Hammer Pro U and Brick Pro

TRIMUI has revealed two new vertical handhelds, the Brick Hammer Pro U and the Brick Pro, adding fresh options to its line-up. For readers in the retro handheld scene, the bigger story is the performance split, with the Pro U aiming at PlayStation 2 emulation while the Brick Pro stays closer to the older Brick Hammer tier.

The Brick Hammer Pro U is the premium model. It uses CNC-milled metal, runs Android, and includes two Hall-effect joysticks, ALPS action buttons, a 3.9-inch display, and replaceable shoulder buttons. TRIMUI has also said it will come in Black, Grey, and Silver. Pricing and release date have not been announced.

The Brick Pro takes a more affordable route with a plastic shell, but it keeps several of the same modern touches. It also has Hall-effect joysticks, ALPS action buttons, a 3.9-inch display, and replaceable shoulder buttons. Its internal hardware is closer to the older, smaller Brick Hammer, so it is aimed at emulation up to PlayStation 1, Nintendo 64, and Dreamcast.

Colour options for the Brick Pro are Black, White, and Retro Grey. That last finish gives it a clear nod to the original Game Boy DMG look, which should suit anyone who likes a more classic handheld style. As with the Pro U, TRIMUI has not shared pricing or a release date yet.

For the wider handheld market, this looks like TRIMUI splitting its audience neatly, one model for users who want a stronger Android handheld with PS2 ambitions, and another for players who want a lighter, lower-cost vertical device with modern controls. The use of Hall-effect joysticks across both models is a sensible move, especially for long-term durability and accuracy.
