The Telwynium Heads to Steam With EGA Style

RetroShell readers in the UK, there is a new Steam release on the way for fans of old-school PC adventures. Dave Lloyd’s The Telwynium, a dark fantasy adventure with an EGA-inspired look, is set to arrive on Steam as a polished collection of its four-part story.

Originally created for Adventure Jam 2021, The Telwynium draws on the kind of PC adventures many retro fans will know well, including Conquests of Camelot: The Search For The Grail and the first two Quest for Glory games. Lloyd has also said the game takes inspiration from J.R.R. Tolkien and Robert Jordan’s The Wheel of Time.

The game follows a young boy named Pendar, who is forced to flee home with a group of refugees led by a wizard. When their leader is killed and others are taken, Pendar and the survivors must work out who is responsible, rescue their friends, and deal with necromancy along the way.

Lloyd, who also works at Powerhoof, has been involved with games including The Drifter. He has described The Telwynium as a side project, and said progress on Book 4 was slower than planned because of his work on The Drifter.

The first three books of The Telwynium have been available for free on itch.io for some time, and Book 4 will also be released there. Lloyd has said the Steam version will bring all four books together with extra polish, while supporters on itch.io will receive Steam keys when the game launches.
