SNK's Art of Fighting, Fatal Fury Head to Screen
From the fighting game scene to the screen, SNK has announced new film and animation projects for Art of Fighting and Fatal Fury. The news was reported by Bleeding Cool, with the adaptations set to be handled by The Arena, a new production banner focused on IP adaptations.
The Arena is being led by former studio executive Erik Feig. Matt Reilly, formerly of Universal, and Markus Gerdemann, who previously worked at Crunchyroll, are also part of the team shaping the company’s approach.
Fatal Fury already has a script in development from David S. Goyer, whose credits include Christopher Nolan’s Batman films and Apple TV’s Foundation. The story will centre on Terry and Andy Bogard as they seek revenge on South Town crime boss Geese Howard after the death of their adoptive father.
There is also an animation project in the works called Fatal Fury: The Vow. That series is being developed with Skybound Entertainment, the studio behind Invincible on Prime Video. Art of Fighting is also in development as an animation project, although no feature film has been announced for that series yet.
Both series are set in South Town, which has long linked their characters and storylines across SNK’s fighting game history. That shared setting gives the adaptations a clear way to connect the two worlds without losing what made each series distinct in the first place.

SNK’s move also fits a wider trend of classic game properties finding new life through film and animation, especially when the source material already has strong rivalries, memorable characters, and a clear sense of place.
