Natthrafn Brings Vault of Seraphim XL to C64

Natthrafn has released Vault of Seraphim XL for the Commodore 64, adding a fresh cave-crawling platformer to the machine’s homebrew scene. The game builds on Catacombs of Cherubim and keeps the focus on jump-and-run action.

The developer describes it as a “jump & run cave crawler”. Players head into the Black Mountains, where the treasures of the Cherubim, an ancient race, are said to lie in deep vaults.

Vault of Seraphim XL includes four new caves and a complete overhaul of player movement. That should give C64 fans a different feel from the earlier game, while keeping the same cave-crawling setup at its core.

The Commodore 64 has long been a strong home for platform games, and homebrew releases like this keep that tradition going. For more retro gaming news, see our News tag, and if you want more C64 coverage, keep an eye on our latest retro news updates.

Natthrafn has also made Vault of Seraphim XL available for MacOS, Windows, and Linux, as reported by Indie Retro News. That means players do not need a real C64, or an emulator, to try the game.
