Intellivision Classics Land on Antstream Arcade

For retro fans in RetroShell news, Antstream Arcade has added a batch of Intellivision classics to its streaming platform. The collection brings early console history to modern devices, with games now available on consoles, PC, mobile and smart TVs.

The new additions include Astrosmash, B-17 Bomber, Utopia, Thunder Castle, Shark! Shark! and World Championship Baseball. Antstream also plans competitive tournaments for Shark! Shark! and Astrosmash, adding a modern competitive layer to these older titles.

The Intellivision first launched in 1979, and it stood out for pushing beyond simple arcade conversions. It introduced early strategy and simulation ideas, and even experimented with voice technology through the Intellivoice speech module.

Steve Cottam, CEO and founder of Antstream Arcade, said the Intellivision was ahead of its time. He said the games introduced ideas and genres still seen in gaming today, but many have become difficult to access. Antstream’s aim is to bring them back instantly on modern devices.

For collectors, that matters. Working Intellivision hardware can be hard to find, and cartridges can suffer from label damage or pin corrosion. A complete-in-box copy of Utopia in good condition can fetch hundreds of dollars on auction sites, depending on manual foxing or box wear.

The collection also underlines why these games still matter. Astrosmash and Shark! Shark! remain quick and playable, while Utopia is often cited as one of the earliest strategy and simulation games on a console. Antstream’s approach gives new players a simple way to try them without hunting down rare hardware or expensive cartridges.
