Full-Size 'THE A1200' Retro Console Confirmed for June 2026 Release

Retro gaming fans can prepare to relive the glory days of 16-bit home computing, as Retro Games Ltd and Plaion have officially announced their next major project: THE A1200. This new machine is a full-sized, working recreation of the classic Amiga 1200 computer, set for a worldwide release on 16 June 2026. Following the commercial success of the diminutive THEA500 Mini, this full-scale replica aims to deliver a more authentic experience, complete with a working keyboard.

The unit will function as a modern retro console, connecting to contemporary displays via HDMI and incorporating conveniences such as save states and USB sideloading for additional software. THE A1200 will arrive bundled with a classic-style 'tank' mouse and an 8-button gamepad, modelled after the Amiga's CD32 controller. Enthusiasts will be pleased to know the console comes pre-loaded with 25 iconic games, including classics like Beneath A Steel Sky, the Turrican trilogy, and Defender of the Crown I & II. The system will be priced at ~£149.99 in the UK, ~€189.99 in Europe, and ~$189.99 in the United States.

This project aims to be a faithful celebration of the original hardware that defined a generation of gaming in the early 1990s. 'This was the machine that made the '90s come alive for a generation of players', said Paul Andrews, Managing Director at Retro Games Ltd. 'With THE A1200, we're celebrating that incredible moment in time – the games, the design, and the creativity that shaped a generation'.

For those eager to secure one, pre-orders for THE A1200 are scheduled to begin on 10 November 2025, promising a nostalgic return to one of home computing's most beloved platforms.
