Delta iOS Adds Cartridge Support via Epilogue

For retro fans in England and beyond, Delta iOS has added support for physical cartridges through Epilogue’s hardware, bringing Game Boy and Super Nintendo Entertainment System games closer to a plug-in-and-play setup on iPhone and iPad.

RetroDodo reports that Riley Testut, the founder of Delta, shared the update in a recent Patreon post. The feature works with Epilogue’s GB Operator, which supports Game Boy, Game Boy Color and Game Boy Advance cartridges, and the SN Operator, which is designed for Super Nintendo Entertainment System games.

With a USB-C connection, Delta can recognise the cartridge and add the game to the emulator library. That means players can use their original media on a mobile device without first dumping ROM files to storage, which is a neat fit for anyone who still keeps a physical collection.

Epilogue’s Retrace app is already used for cartridge authentication, but it does not currently offer direct play. This Delta integration gives the GB Operator and SN Operator a new use case, turning them from archive tools into accessories for mobile emulation.

The update also shows how mobile emulation continues to blend convenience with original hardware. It sits alongside other approaches in the scene, including FPGA-based devices such as the Analogue Pocket, while still keeping the focus on physical cartridges.

Epilogue has said the GB Operator will resume shipping on 30 June, with the SN Operator following on 31 July. For readers following the wider scene, you can keep up with more stories on our news tag page.
