Cookie Policy
Last updated: 21 April 2026.
Cookies are small text files set by websites on your device. This page lists every cookie RetroShell uses.
What RetroShell sets
Our default configuration sets a minimal, functional set of cookies only.
| Name | Set by | Purpose | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|---|
ghost-members-ssr | Ghost CMS (self-hosted) | Keeps you logged in to the RetroShell members system (comments, newsletter settings). | Session / 180 days if “remember me” ticked |
ghost-theme | Ghost CMS | Tracks your theme preference where the theme offers dark/light modes. | 1 year |
Analytics
We use Plausible Analytics on a self-hosted instance at analytics.pub.cat. Plausible does not use cookies and does not identify individual visitors. It measures page views and referrer data at an aggregate level only. There is nothing to opt out of.
What we do not set
- No Google Analytics. No Google Tag Manager.
- No Facebook Pixel. No Meta tracking.
- No behavioural advertising cookies.
- No cross-site fingerprinting.
Third-party embeds
Some articles embed content from third parties (YouTube videos, Bluesky posts, Twitch clips). These embeds may set their own cookies under the third party’s own policy when you interact with them. We use privacy-friendly embed options where available (for example, YouTube’s youtube-nocookie.com domain).
Shop cookies
Our shop at shop.retroshell.com runs on WooCommerce and sets additional cookies for cart persistence and order processing. Those are listed in the shop’s own cookie banner at checkout.
Managing cookies
You can clear and block cookies via your browser settings. For most browsers the path is Settings → Privacy → Cookies. Blocking the ghost-members-ssr cookie will prevent you from logging in to the comments system; the rest of the site will continue to work normally.
Changes to this policy
If we add a new cookie (for example, a newsletter A/B test or a community feature) we will update this table and note the date at the top of the page. Material changes will be communicated to newsletter subscribers.
